My swimming experience lasted for a week but while I was in the pool, I learned some of the basics. I learned how to do the flutter kick the flutter kick is a simple effective swimming technique were your legs execute kind of a whipping motion. Basically, both legs are kept parallel and quickly flutter up and down with toes pointed. One leg kicks up and the other leg goes down. This movement helped me go faster.
I also learned how to dog paddle in the water. First, you're going to want to position yourself to swim, you're going to want to stretch your arms in front of you keeping your head above the water then stretch your legs loosely. It's going to feel like your body is like floating you do not want your legs touching the floor. Then you're going to want to extend your arms, you want your fingers together tightly and you're going to move them like your scooping the water you should fell the motion. Your legs are going to keep you afloat and you're going to want to kick them in a bicycle motion.
Next, I learned how to breathe underwater and when your swimming. First of all, it is important to use swimming goggles, so water won't get in your eyes and it makes it easier for you to swim. There is a big mistake that most people make they hold in their breath, you do not want to do that. Inside you are going to want to exhale through your nose and blow bubbles through your nose or mouth it can even be both. While you are swimming you are going to want to inhale when your head is above the water and exhale while your head is in the water and you’re going to want to continue the process of blowing bubbles through your nose or mouth.
Next, I learned how to glide in the water. What you want to do when it comes to gliding you want to have your feet touching the ground with your knees bent you can also have your feet against a wall you can hold on the wall with one hand for support too. After you’re in the right position, you're going to want to breathe in and put your face in the water stretch both arms in front of u making a triangle form. At the same time push off your feet and then straighten them hold the position as long as you can.
When I accomplished how to flutter kick, dog-paddled, gliding and how to breathe it improved the way I swam. I felt like the dog paddle was the easiest for me because I already got the hand to it soon want a problem to me. The hardest one for me was learning how to breathe underwater because I was always used to take deep breaths then I would swim, and I would stop because I was out of breath, so this new breathing technique really helped me because now I don't have to stop, I can keep going. Gliding is something new for me I never knew it would help my swimming and it improved my arm movement too. These easy swimming methods are great and helpful for beginners like me and knowing how to swim can save your life.
